Abstract

The article presents the results of empirical studies that characterize features of service-man’s negative mental states due to prolonged active military service and staying in the anti-terrorist operation area. 378 serviceman participated in the study. The servicemen participated directly in battlefield operations in comparison with those who did not participate in military actions show: 1) a substantially higher level of post-traumatic stress disorders; 2) greater expression of various signs of mental state disorders (first of all, for the indexes: "difficulties in falling asleep, sleep deterioration" and "severe fatigue, lack of energy"); 3) a higher level of such trauma indexes as trauma re-experiencing - "invasion", symptoms of "avoidance" and "physiological hyperactivity"; 4) significantly lower self-estimated levels for all components of their psycho-physiological states.
