Abstract

The article considers principle issues of electronic libraries creation, it analyzes common definitions of "electronic library" notion and assigns the advantages of them over the traditional libraries. In course of study of electronic libraries functioning features the purpose of their creation, their attributes and functional resources were reviewed. The sphere of scientific and educational electronic libraries implementation is disclosed and certain types of documents attributable to educational electronic libraries are defined. In the course of current study the basic notion of electronic library was worked out.
