Abstract

The article attempts to generalize theoretically phenomenology of political and legal consciousness. Definition of categories of political and legal consciousness is proposed, internal regulators of political and legal consciousness of a person or a group are presented as a system of mutually influenced images, estimates, preju-dices, stereotypes and attitudes, motivational and value preferences and experience of a subject, as well as his relationships and knowledge concerning policy, state and law. A theoretical model of becoming and transformation of political and legal con-sciousness of a person is presented; it is concluded that civic position is an aggre-gated manifestation of political and legal consciousness of a person. It is shown that civic position is manifested through the acceptance or rejection of responsibility. Accordingly the idea that the measure of acceptance of responsibility may be indica-tive of different forms of civic position is substantiated – from active civic position (and willingness to perform civic duty) to a maximum of disengagement from the processes of social and political life. On this basis, typology forms of civic position of personality is suggested, the following character types as “revolutionist”, “volun-teer”, “fanatic”, “pofigist” and “marginal” were isolated.
