Abstract

The actuality of using independent work on a text by junior schoolchildren on the principles of competence-based approach is substantiated in the article. The essence of pupils’ independent work is considered, its types and forms, most expedient for implementation in educational process of primary school for working on a text, are distinguished. The State standard of primary general education and the curriculum “Literary Reading” are analysed with a purpose of tasks selection for independent work on a text by pupils of 3rd form. The main trends of independent work on a text by 3rd form pupils are identified, the relevant tasks for manuals on elective course are selected and organized. In particular, it is a few number of tasks on developing technology of reading; tasks on recognition of words, sentences, indentions, texts, editing, construction of words, sentences, texts; fulfilling tasks on semantic and structural analysis of composition, developing pupils’ creative activity on the basis of reading etc. In manuals it is expedient to combine texts and selected the above tasks in small blocks according to thematic principle.
