Abstract

The article analyzes of the essence of the competence approach was carried out works of foreign scientists, who state the presence of different interpretations of the concepts of "competence" and "competence". A content analysis of scientific works was carried out, which made it possible to carry out a comparative analysis of characteristics/elements competence approach in different countries of the world. It has been proven that the study of a wide range of issues of professional competence of heads of educational institutions is justified by modern challenges and social transformations in Ukraine, modernization of the education system, implementation of the main provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Education", the concept of the New Ukrainian School.
