Abstract

The paper presents the content and main results of the first in history and theory of psychological science research on «Potential of socio-psychological thinking forms for nation building and conflict resolving», which was carried out at the laboratory of methodology of psychosocial and political-psychological research in the ISPP of NAES of Ukraine in 2017-2019. It is presented a review of the individual research directions of the research team members, and manuscripts, which were prepared at the end of the study. It is shown that the mosaic composition of scientific research represents not only a new foreshortening of historical, psychological, social, and other phenomena understanding but also reveals new perspectives of vision of their potential for nation building and conflict resolving as socio-psychological thinking forms. From these theoretical and methodological positions, the significance of the results for the practice of the nation building is proposed to be evaluated. Among the most significant achievements it should be noted that the research team justified the conceptual framework of the social psychology of nation building as the directions of socio-psychological science, and on this basis, a potential of socio-psychological thinking forms for national building and conflict resolving is revealed. The concept of the formation and functioning of social norms as forms of socio-psychological thinking is proposed. Conceptual models are developed, namely: a structural-functional model of the nation-building process, which includes an idea on the system of socio-psychological mechanisms for its functioning; a model of socio-psychological analysis of the nation building phenomenon based on four conceptual constructs (citizen, ethnic group, state, civil society); a structural-functional model of historical psychology potential in a multicultural environment for nation building and conflict resolving; sociopsychological model of the conflict of the military, post-war, and civilian thinking in a hybrid war; multivariate model of societal crisis, which explains the dialectic of consolidation and confrontation in Ukrainian nation building. A number of theoretical principles are formulated, namely regarding the subjective and behavioral approach to the nation-building process; the connection between the phenomena of human aggression and national identity; the conceptual framework of sociopsychological analysis of the national identity phenomenon, patterns of its existence and development in the uncertainty conditions. It is justified the conceptual framework for studying the potential of Ukrainian socio-psychological thought (2nd half of the XIX – the beginning of the XX century) for nation building.
