Abstract

Based on the theoretical analysis, the author revealed the essence of the phenomenon of non-verbal intelligence. The origin of the term non-verbal intelligence and modern methods of its evaluation are described. It has been proven that the term "non-verbal intelligence" is used to define a set of abilities, knowledge and skills related to the cognitive sphere of personality necessary for successful socialization and communication, including for children with special educational needs. The relevance of the study of psychological aspects of non-verbal intelligence of children with special educational needs is due to the urgent need to develop effective technologies for the development of personality of children with special educational needs at different age stages of its formation. Thus, special attention is focused on the study of domestic and foreign concepts of understanding non-verbal intelligence: common and different positions in its structure and genesis of development. The Ukrainian approach includes the creation of a system of diagnostic methods, built taking into account the special and general patterns of development of children with special educational needs. Foreign conceptual view is aimed at developing diagnostic techniques to identify intellectual disabilities in children with special educational needs. The author also analyzes the development of ideas about non-verbal intelligence as an object of study in special psychology. The article emphasizes that modern special psychology and pedagogy in Ukraine, in general, special education, aimed not only at preserving the experience gained, but also at transforming the acquired knowledge in order to create conditions for the implementation of features, needs, interests of a child with special educational needs. modern society. The concept of assessment of intellectual and cognitive abilities is revealed. The age characteristics associated with the assessment of intelligence are described. A number of recommendations and ways to support the formation of non-verbal intelligence, including children with special educational needs, are offered to parents, teachers, social workers, psychologists.
