Abstract

The abstracts of report presented at the International Scientific Online Conference "Twelve Siveryan Social-Psychological Readings" on November 26, 2021 (Chernihiv) briefly describe and give the main results of two empirical social-psychological studies of perceptions – of Mariupol and Lviv citizens – about the war in Donbas, on the basis of a comparison of which the changes that took place over the course of five years in the ideas of the residents of the east and west of Ukraine about the content and prospects of value understanding between them were recorded. It has been established that there have been significant changes in citizens' assessments of the war in Donbas, in particular, the affective components of assessments and attitudes have weakened, indifference to the content and course of events has intensified, and emotional detachment has increased. A psychologically important side of such changes is a reduction in the need for apologies (in the space of apologies, a certain simplification of the cluster structure is observed, for example, the cluster that talks about the futility and needlessness of apologies has significantly shortened), a departure from the irrational search for at least some culprits, and the compensation of such changes to a certain extent, there are tendencies to strengthen the rational-defensive content of reasoning.
