Abstract
In these, the problem of preparing textbooks of Ukrainian literature for the New Ukrainian School is updated. The content and structure of the book for the 5th grade, trained at the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, were considered. It has been proven that they contribute to developing students' reading literacy.
