Abstract

The article analyzes the problem of adaptation of teachers to dynamic changes in living and professional environment. The concept of adaptation from the point of view of different approaches (behaviorism, neobehaviorism, interactionism, psychoanalysis, neo-Freudianism, existentialism, phenomenology) is considered. It is noted that adapting to changes in the living and working environment of the teacher significantly increases the cost of energy to master new activities. Emphasis is placed on the fact that one of the effective mechanisms that contributes to the successful adaptation of teachers is coping as a method of overcoming stress and restoring mental balance through activities aimed at maintaining a balance between environmental requirements and personal expectations. The importance of stress prevention by preparing for a future stressful situation is pointed out. The sequence of actions to overcome stress is highlighted. It is noted that the adaptation of the teacher to the dynamic changes of living and professional environment involves mastering new activities, giving them personal meanings. The stages and main features of the teacher's adaptation are highlighted. It is noted that the teacher's adaptation aimed at ensuring the effectiveness of pedagogical activities, development of professional and personal potential, enjoyment of professional self-realization, encourages further self-improvement, brings satisfaction and strengthens self-confidence. It is noted that the implementation of the adaptation strategy causes a change in motives, personal qualities, self-esteem, the emergence of new meanings, as well as determines the direction of personal development. The conditions that must be taken into account by the teacher when choosing an adaptive strategy are highlighted. The main functions and classification of coping, types and features of choosing coping strategies, the most productive and unproductive strategies for overcoming difficulties and problems are highlighted. The relationship between psychological protection mechanisms and coping strategies is pointed out.
