Abstract

Today, the concept of "guilt" is quite actively considered by foreign scientists as a social and psychological phenomenon within the framework of psychoanalytic, humanistic, existential and cognitive approaches. Guilt, according to the research of some scientists, along with empathy, is a "higher order" moral emotion. For quite a long time, the feeling of guilt was studied only in the context of psychoanalysis, and only a few decades ago it became the subject of research in other foreign psychological schools. It should be noted that the genesis, role and functions of guilt were practically not considered in the domestic psychological school.
