Abstract

The article presents statistical data on the number of affected children during the war in Ukraine. Among the victims, a separate category are children with speech disorders. The author characterizes the general and specific features of children with speech disorders (alalia, dysarthria, dyslalia, rhinolalia, dyslexia and dysgraphia) in wartime conditions. The main attention is paid to the peculiarities of mental and speech activity of children with stuttering. It was in wartime conditions that such children became much larger. The author’s interpretation of the concept of stuttering is proposed, its main forms are highlighted. The essence of speech and motor tricks is revealed. The state of oral and written speech, the emotional-volitional sphere of children of this category in war conditions is characterized. The sequence of psychological and pedagogical work with children with stuttering is revealed. Such work is described from the first days of the appearance of a speech disorder − from the beginning of a traumatic situation to the exit from it. Particular emphasis is placed on the «window of opportunity». They should be used by teachers immediately after stressful events. This approach is necessary to prevent an increase in the child’s speech convulsive manifestations. Neuropsychological exercises are offered. They are aimed at the development of functional blocks of the brain (A. Luria) and compensation of speech disorders. Thus, the children will form a quartet «I want», «I can», «I must», «I am sure». This becomes possible with properly conducted psychological stress management, psychological and pedagogical, correctional and developmental work. The formed quartet will testify to the awareness of their basic needs, the restoration of smooth, clear speech. In addition, the position of responsibility will improve and self-esteem will increase. Positive changes in the educational sphere due to the actions of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and UNICEF in Ukraine are indicated. The main tasks for the future restoration of modern special education for children with speech disorders are outlined.
