Abstract
The article considers the method of working with the text of fables in literature lessons during the adaptation cycle of a modern school. It is proved that the formation of the sixth-graders concept of the genre of fables, according to the new model curriculum, takes into account traditional methods developed by methodologists, combined with the latest methods of analysis of literary works of this genre.
