Abstract

The article presents modern approaches to the education of children with hearing impairments, outlines the current state of preschool education and the existing problems in providing correctional and developmental support to preschool children with hearing impairments. The purpose of the article is to outline the basic models (organizational forms) of preschool education for children with hearing impairments in Ukraine based on the results of theoretical analysis, analysis of educational practice, normative legal documents and identify ways to improve them according to the needs of children and parents. The criteria for comparison are programs for which children study; specialists working in the institution; specifics of correctional and developmental support; options for continuing education after graduation; language of instruction and communication. Methods of theoretical analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature on the research problem were used in the preparation of the article materials; comparison and systematization of research results; generalization of practical experience of teaching preschoolers with hearing impairments. Development of the preschool education system is aimed at further modernization of the existing network of special and inclusive institutions, expansion of their services and functions. Changes and ways of improvement, in particular of special preschool institutions, are substantiated. An important condition is mobility and openness to change, responding to modern social challenges and demands of children, parents, teachers, approval of the leading goal of education is human development and the formation of personality, its worldview, values. Prospects for further research: organization of early intervention services for children with hearing impairments, the activities of early development centers and counseling centers for parents, the participation of inclusive resource centers in supporting the family from the stage of diagnosing the disorder.
