Abstract

The article highlights the life and creative path of Panteleimon Aleksandrovich Kulish, his development as a teacher; the educational-national position of the educator is shown; the results of the analysis of the works of the scientist from the positions of pedagogically national character are presented. The urgency of the problem in this direction is substantiated and it is proved that the outstanding educator, writer, linguist, translator, teacher-Methodist Panteleimon Kulish served the Ukrainian national idea all his life, saw her as the only target. It was found out that the educational activity and the tireless, creative work of P. Kulish was aimed at enriching the culture and education of the Ukrainian people. It has been established that Kulish was a multifaceted person in knowledge and his activities covered literature, philology, ethnography, as well as translation, publishing, and pedagogy. It is proved that he considered the main task of his work to be the preservation of national traditions, the development of his native language and culture, assertion of a sense of national self-consciousness, enrichment of the spiritual arsenal of the Ukrainian people with the achievements of world civilization. It is determined that the writer, teacher, historian, ethnographer, public figure, outstanding educator Panteleimon Kulish fought for national education, took care of preserving the living Ukrainian language, introducing it into the scientific, literary, educational space. It is proved that the Ukrainian "Gramatka" concluded by him and the new phonetic spelling ("Kulishevka"), concluded by him, was a special event of the time, since it was the first textbook in Ukrainian for a folk school that had educational and cognitive content. It is noted that all the works of P. Kulish are imbued with a patriotic-national direction with the preservation of the native, Ukrainian language. The pedagogical ideas of the scientist are revealed, namely: teaching children in their native language, the history of our native land from ancient times; development of patriotic feelings; humane and spiritual values; struggle and promotion of accessibility and raising the educational level of Ukrainians.
