Abstract
The article examines the peculiarities of younger adolescents' perception of the history of the Ukrainian Cossacks through the prism of literary works of modern Ukrainian writers. It is proved that the motive of travel in O. Vyzhenko’s book unfolds through the pilgrimage of the main characters of the older generation to the monastery, modes of historical memory and is part of the initiation of the main character-teenager.
