Abstract

Theses are about the formation of a competent student-reader in Ukrainian language lessons. It is noted that the indicators of international reading literacy research of Ukrainian schoolchildren are the reason for productive discourse of a wide range of educators, further analytical research of scientists, clear definition of skills that students should have, outlining specific guidelines for teachers, which he should teach children. Ukrainian language lessons, which can and should be done to strengthen positive trends and overcome negative ones to form a competent student-reader.
