Abstract
The article considers the method of school study in gymnasium classes of a separate synthetic type of fiction. The system of educational strategies that will promote gradual acquaintance with works of various genres in their historical development is outlined. Recommendations for expanding the reading circle of teenage students and involving works by contemporary Ukrainian writers are given.
