Abstract

The article raises the problem of the need to transform the educational system, rethink the entire system of education and improve the educational process. The emphasis is made on the fact that the implementation of new educational reforms should be based on taking into account the psychological component, namely the development of the hardiness of the individual. The hardiness of the individual is presented as an integral quality of the personality, determines a favorable level of self-esteem, ensures the stability of the self-image, psychological maturity and an active social position. The article reveals the main psychological meaning of hardiness. It is presented its structural components: involvement, control and risk taking, functions are revealed and the leading psychological mechanisms are determined. The article provides the main ideas regarding the importance of hardiness, its important role in the educational process. The relationship between the hardiness and academic performance of an individual, his general involvement in learning process is shown.The importance of each structural element of hardiness in the academic activity is given, namely: the importance of involvement for the readiness of an individual to achieve academic success regardless of the degree of complexity of the material and requirements; the significance of control for the feeling of confidence to achieve a positive learning outcome (the ability to control one's own emotions and volitional processes when difficulties arise in learning activities), the meaning of a challenge (risk taking) for the formation of purposefulness, the desire to solve complex problems for the sake of gaining knowledge and competence in the future. The article demonstrates that hardiness is the main mechanism of innovative educational activity, will allow the young generation to assimilate social experience, acquire psychological literacy, and teach effective life. And most importantly, it will help to establish a relationship between academic performance and the well-being of an individual's real life, teach them to think critically, find creative solutions, effectively cope with problem situations and prospectively assimilate the learned experience.
