Abstract

The article is devoted to the review of the phenomena of "abusing" and "gaslighting" on the example of interpersonal relations. The basic concepts are analyzed, the main predictors, features and signs of abusing are revealed. The abuser is characterized by the following personal maladaptive traits: aggression, irritability, thirst for power, cruelty, aggression, and so on. He shows a negative disrespect for others, while "victims" perceive him as caring and loving. Abusers do not follow the generally accepted norms, demonstrating maladaptive behavior.
