Abstract

Social-psychological features of territorial communities determine the established way of life and population. It determines the appropriate level of poverty manifestation as a lifestyle and the peculiarities of its manifestation among the inhabitants of a community. The aim of the article is to present the results of an empirical study of social-psychological features of residents from different territorial communities depending on the level of their subjective tendency to poverty. It is established that the poor of all communities have a higher level of maladaptation of the poor compared to the non-poor; higher level of externality, self-rejection and criticism of others; more acute feeling of emotional discomfort; lower level of authoritative dominance and competition; tendency to obey and be dependent; lower level of self-esteem and insecurity in themselves and their abilities; lower tendency to competition, financial optimism, deeper feeling of financial deprivation; leveling the role of education; lack of clear plans for the future and the ability to plan your life. Specific for rural residents who have a low level of psychological tendency to poverty (non-poor) is that they are more likely to perform both socially and individually useful work, as opposed to the poor of their community, who are less active. They believe that their work can not benefit others or them personally. For the urban poor, a special feature is the externality associated with a lack of desire to engage in community service and an inability to plan one's life. Peculiarities of poor rural people have shown caution in the risks associated with distrust and suspicion of the environment, as well as in avoiding the problem by escaping into a world of fantasies and illusions; the presence of vague plans, unwillingness to change something for fear of losing what is; and distrust of others.
