Abstract

The purpose and results of participating at the European Conference on Educational Research «Education and Society: Expectations, Prescriptions, Reconciliations», held in Switzerland on September 6-10, 2021, are presented. The ECER 2021 was jointly hosted by the European Educational Research Association (EERA) and the local organizing committee of the University of Geneva and the Valais University of Teacher Education (Switzerland). The features of the event, thematic networks are revealed. The participation in the Network: 17. Histories of Education, in particular in a symposium session as a collaboration of eleven researchers from seven countries (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Czech Republic) for studying common challenges facing the community of historians of education in Eastern Europe after 1945 due to authoritarian and democratic transformations is described. The content of the published abstracts for the symposium Entering the New Communities of Historians of Education after 1945: Former Eastern» is enlightened. The relevance of historical and educational issues in the European and world education and research area is reasoned.
