Abstract

The model curriculum "Ukrainian Literature" for 5-6 grades of secondary education was prepared at the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine in accordance with the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education (2020). The program is focused on the consistent formation of competent student-readers, activation of their reading activities, reading, and personal self-development. The program is focused on the competence teaching of Ukrainian literature, which is achieved by opening the possibilities of the subject for the formation of reading and key competencies of students in grades 5-6. The program is built on the thematic-genre principle in chronological order for the presentation of writers within each thematic section.
