Abstract

It is revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the established model of education. This highlighted the role of teachers in providing students with quality education on the basis of equal opportunities. Teaching is seen as a key component of the EU's flagship European Education Area initiative (2020), which aims to help Member States build sustainable and innovative education and training systems. The key guidelines for the development of the teaching sector are further diversification of career opportunities for teachers and school leaders, intensification of teacher mobility and its transformation into an integral part of lifelong learning.
