Abstract

The theses outline the problem of realization of the competence approach in school literary education, which is one of the priority directions of its development. The peculiarities of the implementation of this problem in the textbook of Ukrainian literature for 5th grade secondary schools with instruction in the languages of national minorities, which are to rethink the way of presenting educational material on the theory of literature, biographical information about writers whose works are studied, questions and tasks, illustrative material of the textbook, etc. Suggestions are made on what the authors should pay attention to when creating a competency-oriented textbook of Ukrainian literature for 5th grade.
