Abstract

In the context of the historical research, it is shown how the introduction of profile education in the upper grades of secondary schools in Ukraine took place during the period under study. It was determined that profile education is aimed at the implementation of a personality-oriented educational process, when, due to changes in the structure, content and organization of the educational process, the interests, inclinations and abilities of students are fully taken into account and conditions are created for the development of students in accordance with their interests and long-term plans and intentions regarding continuing education. It has been proved that the possibilities of building an individual educational trajectory of education by a student are expanding, due to which we perceive the development of a model of profile education for high school students as one of the important areas of increasing the efficiency of organizing profile education in senior classes of secondary schools.
