Abstract

Mykola Yarmachenko Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine is a state research institution. It aims at theoretical and methodological support for the functioning and development of the education system for people with special needs in Ukraine. Among the main statutory tasks of the Institute are: conducting basic and applied research, implementation of state target programs aimed at solving current theoretical, methodological and practical problems of preschool, general secondary, vocational and higher education of persons with special needs, as well as problems of special pedagogy and special psychology as branches of science; realizing research and experimental activities and providing scientific and methodological, educational and methodological and content support for the functioning of preschool education institutions of the compensatory type, special secondary schools (special schools, educational and rehabilitation centers), inclusive education institutions of all levels, as well as inclusive resource centers; development and implementation of scientific and training publications on the issues of education of persons with special needs and branches of science — special education and special psychology; PhD and DSc students training and certification; educational activities in the field of postgraduate education for persons with higher education, in particular in-service training of leaders, scientific, academic and teaching staff of education institutions and institutions implementing state policy in the field of education of persons with special needs, etc.
