Abstract

The author substantiates the relevance and nature in the process of language learning based on the text. The article characterizes the main qualities of the text, taking into account the multifaceted research of the text method. The educational potential and methodical functions of the text are determined, the experience of successful realization of competence and text-centric approaches is described and the advantages of effective application of the text-method in language teaching are revealed.
