Abstract

The article reveals the relevance of improving the content of specialized secondary biological education in modern conditions by highlighting the development and implementation courses of students’ choice. Theoretical and empirical material concerning the formation of the content of education is generalized; the composition and structure of the content of elective courses in biology in the context of competence-oriented biological training of students of specialized secondary education are determined. The possibilities of the author’s the course of the choice “Biological systems” for 10–11 th grade students implementation for the realization of a competence potential of the discipline are described. There are shown the main features of scientific knowledge transformation into the content of education according to the purpose of education and functions of modern profile school, which are defined at the legislative level. There are substantiated as theoretical and methodological foundations of formation of the content of a variable component of domestic profile secondary biological education such components as science, dynamism, fundamentalization, competence approach, interdisciplinarity. Increased attention to including strengthening of the methodological component of the content, orientation on the self-determination and self-identification, development of ethical and responsible students’ attitude to life and health These theoretical and methodological principles provide for the occurrence of qualitative changes in learning outcomes, which include subject and key competencies. The article gives an idea of perspective research in connection with the creation of a new generation of educational and methodical literature, development of effective methods for the formation and evaluation of key competencies.
