Abstract

The paper actualizes the concept of "reading competence", which is considered as a complex psychological and pedagogical system that has a certain structure and performs many functions. A review of the scientific literature on the problem of monitoring student achievement, including reading competence. The conditions necessary for successful measurement of the level of reading competence of students in Ukrainian language lessons are determined, as well as the main directions of research of the outlined problem are outlined.
