Abstract
The didactic and methodological possibilities of the textbook on reading as a means of providing tasks of the semantic lines of the Standard educational program, which are implemented through the subject "Reading", are disclosed in the article. Guidelines for working on the textbook are provided, the need to use tasks in a modern textbook on reading that encourage children to be creative on the basis of the previously read and contribute to the development of research skills of second-graders in reading lessons, are substantiated.
