Abstract

Peculiarities of formation of 3rd grade students' ability to apply browsing / search types of reading are revealed. There are several stages with the gradual complication of forms and methods of work, as well as the content of educational material. One of them is preparatory, during which students perform a system of exercises and tasks for the development of mechanisms of visual perception and various properties of attention (on the material, syllables, words, phrases of numbers). In the future, the class teacher offers children tasks to find the given information in the text, which do not involve structural or semantic analysis of the content. At the next stage, students perform tasks to develop the ability to quickly find the necessary information using a gradual semantic analysis.
