Abstract

The article deals with the matter of involving parents in correctional and developmental influence on a child with severe speech disorders, which is actualand in line with active integration policy in education sector. The definition of "severe speech impairment" (SSI) has been determined, in accordance with modern research in logopedic theory and current Ukrainian legislation. Justified that children with severe speech disorders should be referred as to children with special educational needs. The author argues the need for consecutive parents involvement in interaction with a logopedist to overcome a child’s speech ill-being (SSI).Three stages of parents involvement in interaction with a logopedist are proposed: q m establishing contact aiming to figure out specificity of family relationships and their influence on the child, the quality of « / 4 the communicative environment; informing parents about the actual status of child’s speech development after it's detailed investigation and the cooperation between specialist and parents, which involves the planning of correctional and developmental work, evaluation of it’s effectiveness at different stages of implementation and implementation itself. It was emphasized that specialist’s interaction with parents should be based on the awareness of all participants of the correctional and developmental process on the positive aspects of the child's development. The proposed sequence of work to involve parents in participation in the correctional process will help parents to understand the actual condition and needs of the child, will allow to form adequate requirements for the child itself and will influence the effectiveness of corrective work.
