Abstract
The importance of the problem of forming the civic culture of lyceum students is emphasized. The system approach to the formation of key competencies in general and civic culture as an indicator of the formation of civic, social and cultural competencies in particular is demonstrated on the example of author's textbooks of employees of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Literature of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. The author offers a list of components of the methodology that determine the effectiveness of the formation of civic culture. Suggestions were also made regarding the prospects of studying the problem.
