Abstract

The article represents the results of an empirical study aimed at determining the psychological characteristics of journalists’ professional hardiness. The psychological features of journalists’ professional hardiness are determined by the level of development of their professional self-fulfillment, self-efficacy, motivation, satisfaction from their profession and their psycho-physiological condition. It was found that the level of self-efficacy affects the motivational and professional components of journalists’ professional hardiness. It was also determined that the level of journalists’ professional involvement depends on the level of external professional self-fulfillment, as well as the level of professional control and the level of the professional component of professional hardiness - on the level of internal professional self-fulfillment. It is established that the indicators of the level of professional involvement are related to the level of external professional self-fulfillment, the level of professional control and the level of the professional component of professional hardiness - with the level of internal professional self-fulfillment. It was also determined that the higher the journalist’s self-efficacy, the higher is the level of motivational and professional components of professional hardiness. But journalists with a high level of external negative motivation have a high level of professional component of professional hardiness, which requires separate clarification and research. The most significant links with the indicators of the level of the emotional component of professional hardiness are such indicators of scaled self-assessment of psychophysiological state as: mood, interest in work, job satisfaction and desire to work. And the desire to work is connected with the level of the motivational component of professional hardiness by a significant correlation. There were identified certain signs of professional burnout and deformation, which must be taken into account when developing a correction program.
