Abstract
The article devoted to the problem of reforming primary education in the Ukrainian SSR in the second half of the 50’s-early 60-ies of XX century, the Author reveals the causes and course of the process; carries out the analysis of the educational plans and programs for primary school published in the specified period; draws attention to the discussions between teachers regarding modernization content of primary education.
