Abstract

The article states that an important criterion for the successful implementation of the idea of competence-oriented biology teaching is the teacher's professional readiness for its implementation. The author of the article draws attention to the necessity of including in the curriculum on the theory and methodology of biology teaching questions of competence-oriented study of the subject in higher pedagogical institutions of education and institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education, as well as to intensify work with teachers on the introduction of a competent approach to learning.
