Abstract

The article describes the peculiarities of the use of texts in the lessons of the Ukrainian language, emphasized that the text is a means of formation of value orientations, subject and key competences of education seekers. Examples of exercises based on artistic style texts illustrating the functioning of linguistic units and the aesthetics of language are given. Particular attention is also given to the tasks aimed at identifying the main and secondary information by students, fixing information in different ways, performing logical actions(analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification, identification of theses and evidence; selection of their own arguments; formulation of conclusions), «translation» of text from one style to another or to another format: table, diagram, semantic abstract, drawing, etc.
