Abstract

Article in Encyclopedia education reveals the content of definition of "zhestinyk ", the role of the gestures in the culture of the deaf community-users of sign language. Revealed social functions of the Zhestivnikov, two-step history of the Zhestivnikov creation in Ukraine. The first relates to the fixation of housing units on the basis of understanding the words of Russian (grave N. Mymychesky dictionary (handshake). Kharkov, 1940.240 S.; Iwanyusheva N. Mymyko-Zhestykultsyonnaya Rechh: Possovanie. K., 1968, etc. The second stage demonstrates the presentation of the Ukrainian sign language on the basis of analysis of its linguistic levels (Krayevskyy R., Ianyusheva N. v., Zueva I. M., Kulbida S. V., Chegchin i. I, Adamyuk N. B., Kirichenko v.. are divided into paper, video resources, Electronic resources. There are examples of Zhestivkiv.
