Abstract

The article presents the results of theoretical study of human prognostic function and its development at different levels of personality. The expectations for one’s entourage, their exertion in his behavior, formation of prediction capability, the influence of convictions over prediction, their role in value shaping, the particular qualities depending on ethnocultural level. Prediction capability as an important part of adaptive process for any environment, including social one, develops under influence of different forms of intercommunion of the individual and the environment. Its formation and development depend on hive mind, social situation of development, upbringing and role expectations. Prediction is common to creativity and self-fulfillment, searching of reference group and individuation. Here we investigated the prediction capabilities common to our contemporaries. It is also mentioned that the prediction capability is needed foremost for creative and scientific activity of a contemporary person. The impact of modern life on the capability to predict, plan and build one’s life is examined in the article. The research confirmed that lack or weakness of these capabilities can invoke the difficult feelings in unformed personality in the situation of the vital choice. We analyzed the phenomenon of self-fulfilling prophecy and discovered the special aspects of perception and comprehension of the past and the present as well as of future expectations. The theoretical conclusions can be used for developing future expectations study concept for individuals of deviant behavior and for their adaptation to social life.
