Abstract

The conditions for reforming the secondary school are analyzed. They provide for the formation of a student of the 21St century. The analysis of the personality characteristics of such a student. They are established on the basis of expert assessments of world-wide research. The competences of the pupil of the new century are established and the curricula are changed in accordance with them. The basic conditions for the formation of the New Ukrainian School and changes at the program level with geography for the eighth grade. The role of research assignments in the course program is considered. The necessity of using research tasks within the framework of the secondary school education program is described.
