Abstract

The article analyzes the scientific literature on the chosen problem, summarizes and systematizes the definitions of the concepts "exercises" and "stylistic exercises" formulated by scientists, provides the linguistic and methodical commentary on the use of stylistic design, stylistic experiment, and stylistic etude - exercises that promote the communicative skills of students. The author concludes that the use of the proposed stylistic exercises allows students to learn the peculiarity of linguistic units and their functioning in texts of different stylistic affiliations, helps to form students' abilities to find and correct stylistic mistakes in their own texts, and to use the learned linguistic units in their own statements.
