Abstract

Dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences in specialty 13.00.04 – Theory and methodology of professional education. – Ivan Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv, 2018. The problem of polycultural education of a future teacher of higher pedagogical education institution has been investigated in the dissertation. On the basis of the bibliographic analysis of the research problem the interpretation of the «polycultural education of a future teacher» in connection with the concepts «culture», «education», «future teacher» and «person of culture» was interpreted. The historical and pedagogical aspects of foreign and domestic experience of polycultural education were studied. The experience of polycultural education in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic and Ukraine made possible to define Ziaziun of the National Academy of Pedagogical such socio-cultural preconditions for the emergence of polycultural education as: the transition to a post-industrial society; immigration processes caused by socio-economic and political situation of the country; the impact of globalization processes on culture or, in other words, «cultural globalization». The justification of the methodological foundation of polycultural education is based on the modern paradigm of post-classical science. The following regularities of polycultural education have been revealed: parallel targeted and spontaneous impact on the formation of a future teacher personality as a human culture; the conditionality of the content of polycultural education of the future teacher by the needs of society and the purpose of polycultural education, the level of his psychological/pedagogical training; the conditionality of the personal qualities of the future teacher by his motivations, needs, abilities, mental processes. Based on the revealed patterns the methodological (axiological, cultural, interdisciplinary and competence) approaches to polycultural education have been described. The concept of research of polycultural education is based on philosophical, sociological, cultural, psychological and pedagogical positions on the notion of culture, the modern paradigm of post non-classic science, the role of education in post-industrial society, the impact of globalization and integration processes, the personality development, interdisciplinary of the polycultural education problem, etc. The implementation of the concept has been insured by introducing the structural and functional model of polycultural education that covered the methodological, content- procedural and criterion-diagnostic blocks. The defined structure of polycultural competence is a set of stable relationships between certain personal qualities (value orientations, motivations, tolerance) and professional competences of a future teacher of higher education institution (knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for interaction with different representatives of cultures within the education process). The indicated components of polycultural competence combine the key components of polycultural competence (value-motivational, personality-behavioral, cognitive and operational). Characterized by criteria of polycultural competence is an indicator of an indifferent, personally conscious or value- significant level of polycultural competence. The substantiated methodical principles of polycultural education of the future teacher of higher pedagogical education institution constitute a system of didactic and methodically designed educational material for the level of higher education «Master». The analysis of the results of the qualifying experiment allowed to determine the priority directions for the polycultural competence formation of a future teacher of higher pedagogical education institution, among which: the formation of such instrumental values as tolerance and breadth of views; deepening of intrinsic motivation; the improvement indicators on ethnic tolerance; the development of critical thinking; the formation of intercultural communication. The experimentally tested structural and functional model of polycultural education of future teacher of higher pedagogical education institution has confirmed the effectiveness of the developed content, proposed forms and methods. The results of the experiment showed an increase of polycultural education level in experimental groups.
