Abstract

In the article the problem of determining the essential characteristics of the translation competence of future translators is considered, its components are defined on the basis of analysis and synthesis of the special literature. It is emphasized that in the definition of translation competence and its components can be traced subjective factor, in particular the position of the researcher in determining the translation; the competence of professional translators has certain features, conditioned by the theme and genre-style affiliation of texts, communicative parameters of professional communication. Common for these structures is the formation of professionally significant skills and knowledge, value, reflexive components. Following A. Schweitzer, the translation competence is defined as the ability to a special, fullest understanding of the text in the original language, where the life and professional experience of an interpreter appears as presupposition; the following components of the translation competence are distinguished: special "translation" knowledge of two languages, ability to professional interpretation of the source text; mastering the technology of translation; knowledge of the norms of the language of translation; knowledge of the translation norms that determine the choice of the translation strategy; knowledge of the rules of style and genre of the text; a certain amount of background knowledge; creative translation skills, translation mobility, providing for a quick choice of an adequate translation strategy, the ability to intensively switch language codes in the process of intercultural communication, as well as a developed linguistic flair. It is determined that the translation competence is a complex polycomponent education that contains a knowledge, technological, value, reflective components. Prospects for further research, in particular the development of translation competence through the development of appropriate computer tools, have been identified.
