Abstract
The paper deals with the modernization processes taking place in the elementary education of Ukraine, in particular in updating the curriculum. It is noted that at the level of primary education the most important is the introduction of a competent approach in education. This innovation in the implementation of a competent approach in education meets the world trends in education.
