Abstract
The paper summarizes the results of the analysis of current Ukrainian language textbooks for grades 5 and 6. The urgency of the problem of measuring pupils' skills is considered to be the non-continuous texts. The data of the confirmatory experiment was given, the purpose of which was to check whether five-sixth graders can acquire and practically apply information obtained when reading non-continuous texts.
