Abstract

The author reveals the problems of selecting and structuring the contents of school history textbooks in the context of research education, in particular, identifies the factors that facilitate the organization of research activities of students and should be taken into account when selecting and structuring the contents of the school textbook of history. It is noted that the research activity of students in the process of working with the contents of the school textbook should be based on the processing of various sources of information (historical sources, scientific, journalistic, fiction, maps, illustrations, photo sources, museum exhibits, etc.),which enables students to independently, and at the initial stage, with the help of a teacher, to reveal the essence of historical events, phenomena, processes, to characterize the activities of historians, to characterize and compare the social structure, religious views and cultural achievements of the peoples of the past, to assess the contribution of civilizations to world culture, etc.
