Abstract

Paper deals with the concept of social capital and its manifestations in immigrant and refugee communities. Combination of individual and collective aspects of social capital is described. On this basis the following forms of social capital are distinguished: relational capital, system capital. Review of social capital studies in communities of immigrants and refugees is presented. It was noted that not all social processes in immigrant surrounding can be explained by means of social capital concept. Peculiarities of social capital manifestation in education system in communities accepting immigrants and refugees are analyzed. It was concluded that social capital concept plays an important role in sociopsychological problems of immigrants and refugees analysis because such analysis is connected to consideration of norms, values, trust, social networks, access to social good and resources.
