Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the axiological foundations for the formation of the national and cultural identity of Ukrainian teenagers.Modern Ukrainian society is going through a diffi cult period of creating a new value system that primarily has a great impact on educational process and it has to be taken into account by all participants of educational process. The article is devoted to the axiological fundamentals of the formation of national and cultural identity. The author analyzes a humanistic paradigm of the formation of teenagers’ national and cultural identity according to the moral values of society. The concepts of „value”, „essence of values”, „moral values”, „national values” are characterized. The essence offreedom, love, dignity, responsibility, justice has been defi ned as moral values of a personality in philosophy, psychology and pedagogy. Methods of research were: pedagogical observations, questionnaires, surveys, interviews. The study confi rmed the need for the teenagers to create a national and cultural identity that is a component of their worldview, self-concept, identifi cation with their people, patriotism and responsibility for the future of their country.
