Abstract

The article considers both negative and positive psychological consequences of military traumatization. Particular attention is paid to such a result of traumatism as an opportunity for post-traumatic growth, which involves the responsibility of the individual for the further development of his own life and improving life quality activating. It is shown that posttraumatic growth provides acceleration of positive personal changes as a result of rethinking the value of life as a result of experiencing trauma and constructive interaction with a new posttraumatic reality. It was found that the traumas experienced can act as catalysts for positive changes, namely, the growth of personal maturity, vitality, strengthening faith in one's own strengths, strengthening and deepening relations, and activating the life position. The following resources providing personal growth are considered: 1) the ability to restore lost integrity and continuity, to build the new life prospects; 2) the ability to intensify the value-semantic search as an energy engine of change; 3) the ability to self-realization, to increase of self-efficacy; 4) the ability to grow communicative competence, the ability to establish and maintain constructive relations, to receive and provide assistance. There are the following psychological strategies of the personal growth contributing to the people injured during the war: support for the ability to interpret injuries positively; help in developing the ability to optimize the communicative space by reformatting sympathy-antipathy, increasing empathy; the stimulation of the ability to revise values and sense of life; a change in the attitude of the traumatized personality to oneself through the mobilization of resources for self-recovery.
